Drinker Biddle Partner Michael J. Remington Appointed as Co-Chair of Election Protection-DC

Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP partner Michael J. Remington has been appointed co-chair, together with co-chair Herbert J. Hansell of Jones Day, of the Washington, DC Legal Coordinating Committee of Election Protection 2004. Election Protection is a non-partisan nationwide program of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law to protect voting rights and promote public understanding of the electoral process.

Washington, DC is essential to the Election Protection program because it will be the site of the National Command Center and the largest arm of a National Hotline operation. Nationwide, Election Protection will be staffed by thousands of legal volunteers to provide voters in local communities with access to immediate legal advice and assistance on election day. Election Protection is co-sponsored by the American Bar Association and the National Bar Association and is supported by more than one hundred partnering corporations and organizations including the People for the American Way Foundation, the National Coalition for Black Civic Participation, and the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, the NAACP LDF, NAACP, the National Council of La Raza, Verified Voting, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Common Cause.

Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP is a full-service national law firm with more than 450 lawyers committed to solving complex legal problems for businesses and other clients.
