Election Protection Coalition Schedules Media Briefings
for Election Day
Data gathered from on-the-ground election monitors
and national 1-866-OUR-VOTE hotline will be made available
to reporters
WASHINGTON-The nonpartisan Election Protection coalition,
led by the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under
Law, People For the American Way Foundation and the
NAACP, plans to hold up to three briefings for reporters
on Election Day to update them about potential election
problems around the nation.
Media briefings are scheduled for noon, 3 p.m. and
(if needed) 8 p.m. at the Lawyers' Committee for Civil
Rights Under Law headquarters at 1401 New York Ave.
NW, Suite 400, in Washington, D.C.
Lawyers' Committee Executive Director Barbara Arnwine,
PFAW Foundation Vice President Sharon Lettman, NAACP
Washington Bureau Director, Hilary Shelton, Brenda
Wright, Managing Attorney with the National Voting
Rights Institute, Matt Zimmerman with the Electronic
Frontier Foundation, and other voting rights experts
will speak at the briefings. They will share information
collected through the national 1-866-OUR-VOTE
(1-866-687-8683) hotline, on-the-ground poll monitors,
media monitoring and will discuss any steps the coalition
is taking to address the needs of voters across the
country.
